We are running Configuration Manager 2012 R2 SP1 CU2 in our envionment and had some clients report the following error in the wuahandler.log on a Windows 7 32-bit workstation, “OnSearchComplete – Failed to end search job. Error = 0x80072ee2.”
“Error = 0x80072ee2” translates to a connection time-out to the wsus server.
Resolved the issue by doing the following:
On the Windows 7 client computer I opened the Configuration Manager properties in the control panel and clicked on the “Find Site” option to update the site information.
Once it found the correct site details, the error disappeared from the logs and the client could scan for updates.
If you have a couple 100 clients receiving the same error, it is worth while using the following PowerShell and VB script to change all at once. This script resolved about 50% of my clients with the scan error “Error = 0x80072ee2”.
The script was used on Windows 7 and Server 2008, 2008 R2 and Server 2012 clients. Use at your own risk.
