The reality of living in a 3rd World country is that we do have slow WAN connections and simply can’t send large packages over these links. Sending a 2.3Gb Office 2013 update package across a already congested 512k line takes forever to complete or does not complete at all. Packages that do complete do so in a month or two, which is not ideal as your vulnerabilities are exposed for so much longer.
How do I overcome this issue? There are 2 simple methods that I use to distribute large software update packages and OSB images across the WAN with SCCM 2012.
Method 1: Distribute Software Update Packages
Method 2: Distribute Pre-Staged Software Update Packages or OSD images
